The debates surrounding these curricular changes include the discussion not only the curricular strategies privileged (e.g., cross-disciplinary dissemination, specific subject, non-disciplinary space), but also the concept of what civic education should be about (e.g., restricted to moral-values education vs. emphasising knowledge, attitudes and competencies).
