Because of very high particle multiplicities and softness of the particle momentum spectra observed in Pb–Pb collisions, the efficiency of traditional reconstruction algorithms becomes challenging. Therefore, ALICE has implemented a few ad-hoc algorithmic extensions allowing for significant improvements in the reconstruction quality.
