| Summary: | In the context of the social and cultural imaginary, monsters draw the limits between what traditionally has been considered good and bad, between normal and pathological, what is beautiful and awful, and monsters have the capacity to link really with imagination. They help us to establish the notion of belonging to «normality» and intrinsically built the notion of difference; a notion that is well known by those labeled for their sexuality and disability. In this article, we focus on the intersection of these two realities, often ignored and taboo, also a useful and present in our current society, a construction of what we have called «the everyday-monsters». Looking at crip or monster help us to deviate our attention from the dominant norms, choosing to not question the compulsory heteronormativity or the beautiful body regime, which are monstrous norms that constrain our bodies and experiences. |
