Description
Summary:The article presents the results of a research and intervention that aimed to identify environmental risks, as well as raise awareness and empower a community to seek collective ways to deal with them. Twelve residents of both sexes participated in the study, over the age of eighteen years old, living on an island in southern Brazil, with history of floods . We used the technique of focal group a nd systematization of data through field notes. A total of 22 notes were analyzed by content analysis method. The results indicate d the presence of risks in the environment related to mobility, health of residents and ecological imbalance. Factors such as attachment to place, sense of helplessness and sense of community have proved central to the analysis of the perc eption of environmental risk.
