Summary: | This paper aims to analize two translations of Kokoro, written by Natsume Soseki (1867-1916), according to Antoine Berman’s (2007 [1985]) letter deforming analysis. We have compared the English and Portuguese translations with the original work, seeking to verify to what extent they distance themselves from or get closer to the letter deforming occurrences. We have concluded that both translations –in different proportions, though– bring deformations that destroy author’s intended systematizations and prevent the translation to be closer to the original. |
