Universidad De Santiago de Compostela.Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación y del deporte.Universidad de VigoIn recent years, increased demand for music education has promoted discussions related to the efficiency of the music conservatory and its unique characteristics in responding to this demand. The objective of this study focuses on analyzing the management perspectives of those who administrate both municipal and private music conservatories to define the management and organizational styles of these institutions and the differences that may correspond to the type of ownership. We use an interpretive research approach applying a mixed methodology carrying out both qualitative series of semi-structured interviews and a quantitative research questionnaire given to school administrators to establish a set of variables that are the object of analysis. The results revealed that there are significant differences in the management and organization between public and private music conservatories, even though both types of institutions comply to the same legal regulations. Furthermore, both the number of students and the organizational and management styles of music conservatories are highly influenced by the numerous peculiarities of local musical traditions.https://www.anppom.com.br/revista/index.php/opus/article/view/837conservatorio profesional de música. gestión escolar. organización escolar. educación musical.
