Summary: | In this paper fatherhood is explored through the eyes of divorced fathers who are not able to live together with their children. This kinship is considered through the viewpoint of practice and negotiation within a system of prescriptions and expectations. The article is part of the doctoral research, “ ‘¿Qué clase de paternidad es esa?’ El trabajo de parentesco desde la incertidumbre”. In this work fatherhood experiences are analyzed for participating men from two systems that part from a worldly sexual division: kinship and law. The study of uncertainty and breaching experiences of some divorced fathers in Mexico City and their efforts to improve their paternal-filial relationship, brings new challenges to contemporary kinship studies. |
