Summary:This article to revisit the world of physical education, considering the front protagonist activity to childhood obesity. The review presents some factors that contribute to this multifactorial problem, that is, as the social and psychological dimensions cross and influence. Moreover, it points out some theoretical contributions on this theme, as the influence of physical activity to reduce obesity in childhood frame. Therefore, the review points to physical education as a protagonist in the fight against childhood obesity, since in addition to the biological contributions has a direct effect on behavior change through the conceptual development and attitudinal content, serving as a means for minimizing the obesity problem, although not a panacea.
