| Summary: | Numerous studies show that activities and professions are stereotypically associated with gender. The purpose here is to describe an artistic profession — stage magician — using typical spoken material sourced from the Internet. This qualitative study shows that the profession of stage magician is always presented as highly gendered, i.e., overwhelmingly masculine. Avenues for further research are suggested, particularly regarding the structure and value of stereotypes. |
