Gender Studies have been especially productive in the field of Sociology.This paper will focus on the basic importance of the gendered perspective in the analysis of reality, the sexual division of work and the issue of asymmetric power relations between the sexes. It will finally locate and make clear the different meanings of «gender» from a sociological point of view. The conclusion is that we can talk about three different phases or stages in the consideration of women’s human rights: when women were invisible, equality between men and women in human rights and, third, the recognition of women’s difference.
