Methods of source-study heuristics and criticism, interpretation, verification, systematization for the search, selection, description, evaluation and classification of historiographical sources are used in the work. Scientific novelty. Until now, the historiography of the history of Ukrainian public organizations in Canada during the interwar period has not been explored. If few historiographical studies were published, they usually covered a certain chronological period in Canadian historical science, rather than a certain topic. On the other hand, some thematic studies focused on general immigration, not specifically Ukrainian. If they also covered the Ukrainians in the Diaspora, they were not limited to the interwar period and their social and political activities. Conclusions. The main body of the mentioned historiography comprise publications by Diaspora scientists and, to a lesser extent, foreign ones. This is in some way linked to the obligatory condition of the use of Ukrainian-language sources related to the social and political activity of the Ukrainians of Diaspora. Therefore, these problems were mainly studied by native speakers. Half of researches is characterized by descriptive and non-scientific style of presentation, since their authors were not professional historians, but public activists. With the appearance of higher educational and research institutions in the Diaspora of Canada and the third wave of immigration with a significant percentage of the Ukrainian intelligentsia, the style of writing works varies qualitatively. Most editions comprise monographs and articles devoted to the activity of certain public organizations, including the interwar period. At present, there is a lack of complex researches about Canadian public associations and therefore the comprehension of the mechanism of their activities should continue. http://nbuv.gov.ua/j-pdf/rks_2019_23_17.pdf foreign historiography, ukrainian diaspora, canada, public organizations.
