Description
Summary:There are many rules of professional ethics that psychologists adhere to in their practice. In addition, some regulations are brought by institutions and organizations. A growing interest in psychology in Turkey brings problems with it. One of these problems is that who would be competent to assume the title of psychologist. For example, people wishing to work as ‘psychologists’ in North America must obtain a license issued by the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards. Licensing requirement not only determines the competencies and responsibilities of those who will practice in the field of psychology but also sets a minimum standard for those who want to practice in this field. Such a legal arrangement protects the rights of both the practitioner and the client; it also ensures that the psychological services are provided within a certain framework. Considering the ethical violations of people’s practices both in and out of the field of psychology in recent years, the need of some official regulations to be made in Turkey also occurs. In this context, the aim of this study was to examine the requirements of qualification certificates of the North America and European Federation Psychologists Association, which have legal arrangements for psychologists. This study aimed to provide a basis for legal regulations that have become a necessity.
