Description
Summary:The Programme for International Student Assessment (Pisa) aims to evaluate the skills and competencies required for students aged 15 and 16 years, it is checked the level of preparation of young people for the contemporary world and the efficiency of educational education systems compared to other participating countries. Therefore, this article aims to verify the global context of Brazilian students in the performance in relation to mathematics in Pisa editions that took place from 2000 to 2018. The study is mainly based on the authors Vianna (2003), Berényi and Neumann (2009) and Ortigão and Aguiar (2012). The main results indicated that Brazil has reached the last positions and grown mildly in the face of the editions already made. The moderate advances show the low quality of our students of Basic Education and their access to higher education. The data presented by Pisa should be analyzed deeply in order to understand the panorama of Brazilian education.
