Summary:This paper studies the relationship between markets, products and innovation in Greece.Until recent period, the Greek industries depended almost completely on the internal market. It is the main reason for which the Greek companies had few growth opportunities. In this context, the innovation concerned almost exclusively the product, the launch of new articles and services, as far as the internal market could absorb them.This study describes first the structure of the Greek industry from the end of the 19th century until 1970, examine then the initiatives of introduction of new products in the internal market, as regards the imported appropriate technology and the marketing of the new products; it discusses finally the problem of the Greek industrial exports.
