Description
Summary:The Family Healthcare Strategy proposes a restructuring of primary healthcare, focusing on the community attended within its context. In this sense, social participation is essential for the diagnosis, definition of priorities, follow-up, and evaluation of the work. The health worker plays a fundamental role in creating a favorable environment and conditions for participation. The objective of this study was to describe the participation concepts and practices of a Family Healthcare team and implement a process of reflection on such issues. The investigative methodology was used, with a total of six meetings, which were recorded and transcribed, with their contents later analyzed. The concepts and practices of the team were observed to be pervaded by the medicalizing persepctive, which we considered to be a limiting factor to promoting participation. The investigative methodology enabled us to identify in the team the importance, limits, and possibilities for the practice of participation among users, which could help to increase awareness of their role as mediators.
