Industry and urban space production in Araucária

This research aims to study the dynamics of the urban space production in Araucária, light of the industrial development that occurred in the 1970´s. The instauration and concretization of the process is related with the phenomena of the expansion of the industrial capitalism. As well as the lack of special concentration in the dynamic industries in Brazil, which materialized in the town in the year of 1972, with the implantation of Petrobras Petroleum Getúlio Vargas Refinery. From the derived relations of the industrialization and urbanization process, we analyze the dynamics of the restructuring of the intra-urban space, characterized by the consolidation of new centers, and by the constitution of a morphology set by the expansion and discontinuity of the urban tissue. These processes are deepened having as basis the existing articulation between the spatial transformations that happened in a local and metropolitan scale, manifested in space through the emergency of new relations between downtown and the periphery.
