Summary:This research analyzes the situation of journalism in a high risk area, Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. The analysis is based on the knowledge and analysis of the training activity, violence and corruption denounced by Juarez Journalists Association, founded and run by women journalists. A meeting with journalists of the association and in-depth interviews are the main methodological tools to understand the meaning and value of this group of juarenses journalists. In the same way this article analyzes, through a quantitative methodology, the strategy of activism and the international projection of the association through their social networks. In addition, research is completed with a content analysis about the prevalence and significance of the ‘red note’ in El Diario de Juárez, the main newspaper in this border area, which even has a delegation in the US city of El Paso. Coverage of violence in high risk areas gives a special value to journalism in newspapers like the aforementioned and corporate work of this group of juarenses journalists.
