Summary: | The Herero/Helelo people of southern Angola, still keep their daily traditions alive . This study is guided through interviews with the elderly, visits to the group and also by the study of theories of Ubiratan D'Ambrosio’s Ethnomatematics program. It was possible through the observation of Mucubais and Himba subgroups allied to urge the preservation of the people’s roots and thinking of new ways and techniques for teachers to approach school knowledge within a contextualized framework closer to the reality of both groups. In particular, an emphasis was given to thinking about the relations between Art, Culture and Mathematics that the teacher can create and weave together in order to approach the reality experienced by young people and in the school. In this sense the research is justified by the need to learn about the current knowledge surrounding the group, in order to ensure their survival today without losing the culture.
