Particularities of Arterial Hypertension Depending on the Amount and Distribution of Adipose Tissue in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

The features of arterial hypertension in obese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were analysed in the article. For this purpose, 53 patients (out of them 25 men) aged 55.90 ± 2.15 years, with diabetes mellitus type 2 and hypertension stage I–II and 2nd degree, were examined. All patients were d...

For this purpose, 53 patients (out of them 25 men) aged 55.90 ± 2.15 years, with diabetes mellitus type 2 and hypertension stage I–II and 2nd degree, were examined. All patients were determined body mass index, measurement of office blood pressure, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, as well as body composition was determined using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. It was found that in these patients the average daily and minimal systolic and diastolic blood pressure level increases with increasing the total adipose tissue mass, and also with increasing the amount of adipose tissue in the abdominal area. In addition, regardless of the sex, in these patients the minimal systolic and diastolic blood pressure level had positive association with android/gynoid fat ratio of the adipose tissue. It was also found that in these patients the total number of hypertensive episodes during the day increases, and the duration of hypotensive episodes decreases with increasing total adipose tissue mass.http://iej.zaslavsky.com.ua/article/view/77859
