Description
Summary:This article shows how the notion of Brazilian popular art has been developed, understanding models and sculptures made by members of the popular classes as art. It also seeks to demonstrate that, since its foundation by Jacques Van de Beuque in 1976, and throughout the last 20 years, the Casa do Pontal Museum has sought to attribute greater value to this production, working towards the recognition of the artists’ role and the qualified dissemination of their creations, with an emphasis on acknowledging their respective authorships.
