This study is characterised by its philological nature and aims at presenting a linguistic investigation about a public deed of real assets, a common kind in the eighteenth goiana notary’s officer practices. Based on the semidiplomatic edition of a deed, dated from 1892, and being considered the language state of the handwritten document, the description of some linguistic aspects was made, such as the use of geminate consonants and the structure of the kind public deed that registered real assets. We demonstre the importance and the possibilities of investigation with philologic corpora.
