Summary:Based on the case of the reinterpretation of ecological representations in the context of sustainable development practices and of environmentalist discourses among the Totonac of the Sierra de Puebla, this article suggests some elements of analysis and possible leads for future research on the modalities of adoption of a “vision paysagère” (aesthetic landscape perspective). I discuss the factors involved in such a process of “artialisation” in a context where the aesthetic judgement of spaces is rather based on agrarian and socio-cosmic criteria.
