Summary:Background: Stroke is the third cause of death worldwide after cancers and cardiovascular disease. Many disabilities occurred after stroke. In the United States in each second one person suffer a stroke. Unfortunately there are no accurate statistics of the incidence of stroke. In this study we examined the knowledge, attitude, and practices (KAP) about risk factors for stroke in people referred to health centers in Isfahan. Methods: In this cross-sectional study 332 person who referred to health centers were evaluated. Sampling was done systematically and the data gathered by KAP questionnaire were analyzed using SPSS15. Results: Totally 332 person (144 men and 188 women) were enrolled in this study. The mean age of men and women were 42 ± 8.5 and 41/1 ± 7.3 respectively. The mean score of KAP about risk factors for stroke is 14.5 ± 1.6. Conclusion: In this study knowledge, attitude and practice about stroke risk factors was not desirable. Therefore the health system should plan to promote awareness about stroke in the community
