Description
Summary:Management of genetic resources in France.France is very rich in plant genetic resources. The general policy of management of these resources has been defined collectively through a National Charter. The implementation of this policy is followed up by the BRG, which is the national institution in charge of coordinating animal, plant and microbial genetic resources activities. The national strategy set out in the Charter includes: 1. networks for the management of ex situ genetic resources of cultivated species ; these networks bring together parmers from the public, private and NGOs sectors, willing to manage collectively a National Collection of genetic resources; 2. networks for the management of wild species of interest for agriculture (forests, progenitors of cultivated species, meadows); these networks rely, among others, on forestry and natural arecs managers; 3. plans for the dynamic management of resources, that take account of environmental pressures. This paper describes how the strategy is being implemented, its prescrit state of progress, and the research dynamic supporting it.
