Summary: | Padang city is one of the most vulnerable areas of an earthquake potentially tsunami on the west coast of Sumatra Island. The government should formulate policies to minimize the impact of the disaster. The government and all relevant stakeholders should focus on disaster risk reduction efforts. As part of this effort is making policy in formulating contingency plans to deal with tsunami risk. Padang City Government has developed a contingency plan on tsunami risk since 2013 as a form of public policy. Even though the tsunami has not occurred in Padang City yet, but as a form of evaluation of this policy, it is necessary to analyze the problems in developing the contingency plan of the tsunami for the improvement of its future. Therefore, this article describes the results of the review of problem analysis in the policy of composing tsunami contingency plans in Padang City.
