Oral genodermatosis: Report of two rare cases with the literature review

Hereditary benign intraepithelial dyskeratosis (HBID) and white sponge nevus (WSN) are rare oral genodermatoses manifesting as white gelatinous or corrugated thick, nonscrapable plaques in the oral mucosa. HBID also presents with gelatinous superficial plaques in conjunctiva. The objective of this article is to report two cases of oral genodermatoses namely HBID and WSN with former being the first case reported from India and to review the literature with total number of cases reported in English literature in PubMed. We also concluded from the search that genetic analysis of all the patients should be done as HBID, which previously been considered as an area specific have patients from Italy, China, Brazil and India.
