| Summary: | The purpose of the article is to try to outline the range of meanings of the concept of contempt in the works of M. Lermontov, as well as to determine the dynamics of its development from early to late works. On the basis of examples from early lyrics, prose and late lyrics, we distinguish several meanings of the concept of contempt, which is included in the philosophical and ethical system of M. Lermontov, along with the concepts of love, hatred, disappointment, etc. The constant mention of the concept of contempt by the author emphasizes its importance in the works of M. Lermontov as a whole. |
