Deformation behavior after stress-induced martensite transformation in a Ti-50.8 at.% Ni alloy

Description
Summary:In this study, the deformation behavior of a Ti-50.8 at.% Ni thin wire, which was subjected to different heat treatments, was investigated by means of uniaxial tensile tests. Considerable ductility (tensile elongation >50%) and a large variation of the stress-strain relations are observed after different heat treatments, especially in the stage after the stress-induced martensite transformation plateau. A possible explanation for the observed phenomenon is discussed in this work.
