Description
Summary:In this paper, an attempt has been made to investigate the area, production, and productivity of the main crops in Syrian agriculture before and after the crisis. To this end, the necessary data required for the study has been collected from the Central Bureau of Statistics in Syria, the Ministry of Agriculture in Syria, and the FAO database. The results of the study show that for wheat, barley and cotton, there has been a decrease in the cultivated area during the crisis compared to the period before it (503.706, 123.589, and 131.750 hectares, respectively). Besides, in terms of production, we note that there has been a negative impact of the crisis on wheat, barley, and cotton of 1,327.968, 84.139, 558.677 tons, respectively. Furthermore, as regards productivity, we observe that there has been a negative impact of the crisis on wheat, barley, and cotton of 0.374, 0.134, 1.034 tons/ha, respectively.
