Summary:The reflection on possible articulations of the postgraduation with the basic education is relevant for the Teaching and perpasses the formation and the education. The academic production in Brazil goes through the postgraduate programs and renowned research groups registered in the Directory of Research Group of the Plataforma Lattes of the National Council of Scientific Development. This article deals with the scientific production of seven research groups, whose name in its line of research included Scientific Literacy (SL) and Science Education and its leaders oriented dissertations and theses in the Postgraduate Programs of the Education in Sciences. It is a study of exploratory and descriptive characteristics of the scientometric type when performing the identification of indicators such as the characterization, selection and analysis of scientific production. The results indicated the state of the art, the generation and the advance of scientific knowledge in this areathe generation and the advance scientific knowledge through the research findings. It was evidenced in the research which are the sources used to generate this knowledge, most cited authors, researchers and networks of researchers that are formed in the national scenario. It was also possible to realize the need for further discussions in the conceptual and practical field, which involve Scientific Literacy to enable a greater debate in Science Teaching, aimed at promoting a quality scientific education.
