Description
Summary:The carabids species of Dayat Aoua Lake are characterized by a large number of rare species and few species common to all sample units. Great heterogeneity is observed in a habitat type or even at a sub-station (case of South sub-station). These observations suggest that the carabid species assemblages are open systems where the local balance is rarely achieved. There is a clear relationship between the distribution of Carabidae and potential environmental factors. The effect of regional climate and physicochemical characteristics of the soil are causing particular microclimates that determine their local distributions and also the source of heterogeneity that is observed in our results, even within a sub-station which appears homogeneous.
