Description
Summary:The congregational churches heritage in Palermo built in the XVI and XVII centuries is probably the most relevant and neglected trace of its commercial history. The whole of these buildings, although in a state of ruin, constitutes today a rich art sign because of the marked analogy of their style features. In the present work is described a systematic investigation of this class of churches with the aim of establishing the analytical bases to confer them new life within an overall reuse project. The objective is to create a network of services for the historical centre inhabitants, compatibly with the existing architectonic typology. The reuse project, endorsing a novel social aspect, takes a dual objective into account: both the single church-node, and the artistic and functional connection between the nodes and the network are considered.
