Summary:At the present time, the quality of life has decreased in EU Member States mainly because of the economic crisis that these countries had to undergo. Moreover, the standard of living in Romania is quite low compared with the average in the European Union, while the risk of poverty is the highest in the area. In this context, the present paper aims to present the current situation in our country in terms of living standards and to identify a number of directions of action that will lead, in the shortest time, to improving the socio-economic situation.
