Summary:The purpose of this research is to understand the socio-cultural transformations generated by ethnic plastic surgeries through a reflection about identity, multiculturalism and globalization in Brazil. This surgical procedure is considered a way of immigrants to be integrate in the modern societies, because it promotes some body homogeneous by the transformation of distinctive ethnic features. On the other hand, it can also be interpreted as a new form of social subordination and racism. It is a theoretical study based on literature review with emphasis on a social and cultural anthropology.
