Summary:in the coming few years, educational Systems in developing countries may face a more pressing demand for assessment of their performance than ever before . the concepts of efficiency, productivity and accountability have been applied to the field of education in developed countries, in order to improve the performance of education . However, all these concepts are meaningless without valid assessments of outcomes. This paper intends to shed some light on the concept of educational outcomes, their classifications and major principles that should be considered in assessing educational outcomes. The task of assessing outcomes is not an easy one, but it is not impossible, thus a comprehensive approach should be considered for evaluating both types of outcomes which are quantitative and qualitative.
