Description
Summary:The article aims at clarifying Irene Nemirovsky’s attitude to psychoanalysis, issue neglected by the critics. The topic is dealt with starting from the novel Le Maître des âme, where the author stages a doctor who learns some rudiments of psychoanalysis to develop his own essay. Then we study the connection between psychoanalysis and the representation of family relationships, a recurring subject in her novels. These aspects make it possible to establish the writer’s position in the debates aroused by the spread of psychoanalysis in France.
