Santuzza’s part from Pietro Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana is distinguished by a special complexity, with moments of maximum dramatic tension. The analysis of the interpretation peculiarities of this feminine part from the perspective of the contemporary lyrical theater presents a special interest for musicologists, performers, directors etc. In the context of the modern show, the verist opera is a universal existential model, which can occur at any time, historical period; it is timeless. We will undertake a comparative interpretive analysis of Santuzza’s part performed by different contemporary vocalists: Lyudmila Monastyrskaya, Elina Garanča , Ekaterina Semenchuk, which has not been done so far.
