Summary: | This article presents a research project stemming from a common request of the teaching team of the O. school to work with researchers and of the researchers’ team to study schools where active forms of pedagogy are implemented. The writer of the article first presents the research issues and the project methodology (institutional socio-clinics and pedagogical action research), then he describes three key moments in the initial phase of the research contracting process, and finally he analyses the research function and effects. In the presentation of the findings, the writer highlights the "time" analyser, institutional interferences with the French national Education Inspector concerning innovation and assessment, and the effects of the Inspector’s positioning towards the researchers and about the content of the research plan. He notes a few elements of knowledge produced about the contracting process in action research.
