Summary:Under the circumstances of intensifying globalization of the world economy we can observe a widespread use of crude steel, context in which crude steel production can be considered an indicator characterizing a country’s economic growth. Looking from this perspective, the purpose of this paper is to determine the evolution of world crude steel production and the impact that the economic and financial crisis has had on the evolutionary trend of it. The data used relate to the period 2003 – 2013 and have in view nine regions of development and eleven countries.
