Summary: | This article is based on my presentation for the 4th CITCEM Conference «Crossing Borders: Connecting
Edges of Environmental History», held in November 2015 at FLUP, with the original title «Geography,
Architecture and Water Management in a Minho village: the parish of Perre». Three case studies will be analyzed
for the same area – Lima valley – between three Viana do Castelo parishes, crossed by a tributary of Lima
river, the creek of Portuzelo, and its subsidiaries. Each case is based on court, notarial and parish property
documents, subsequently analyzed and compared with coeval law, and other cases already studied related to
the Northwest of Portugal, in an attempt to systematize the irrigation process for this region, trying to fins
connecting and departure points, and checking their practice on the field.
