Description
Summary:doi: 10.12957/geouerj.2016.18827 The following article puts forward a new geomorphological compartimentation for Recife Metropolitan Region (RMR), by means of correlating the different lithologies that comprise the landform arrangements of the region. For this purpose, morphostructural analysis methods were used based in the application of morphometric indexes, integrated to litho-structural data, photo-lineaments, and drainage network patterns. The usage of the morphostructural approach to the landforms of the RMR resulted in the identification of the following structural compartments and morphological sub-units: the coastal sedimentary plateau, subdivided into three sub-units, the Borborema crystalline piedmont, that comprises two sub-units, the Borborema Piedmont on the Pernambuco basin and the undifferentiated coastal and fluvial plains.
