Subclassificação da lombalgia crônica e nível de incapacidade: efeito no desempenho funcional e força muscular

Low back pain induces reduction in physical activity and, conse - quently, in physical fitness. Objective: To investigate the effects, both isolated and associated, of clinical classification of low back pain (group effect) and of the level of disability on functional capacity obtained by the distan...

Objective: To investigate the effects, both isolated and associated, of clinical classification of low back pain (group effect) and of the level of disability on functional capacity obtained by the distance walked during the six-minute walk test (6MWT) and on dorsal and lower limb (LL) mus - cle strength. Methods: The sample consisted of 31 subjects divided into three groups: control (CG/n=10), nonspecific low back pain (NLBPG/n=7), and specific low back pain (ELBPG/n=14). The evaluation procedures were: (a) determination of the level of disability, (b) measurement of dorsal and lower limb grip strength, and (c) the 6MWT. Results: There was a main group effect. The force in the CG was significantly greater than that in the NLBPG and in the ELBPG for dorsal and lower limbs muscles, but no such effect was found for the 6MWT. Conclusion: The strength of dorsal and lower limb muscles was affected by chronic low back pain; however, functional performance was not.http://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=92929899010
