Summary: | On September 30, 1829, María Cristina de Borbón and her family began the journey that would culminate in her marriage to Fernando VII. One of the most important receptions along the way took place in the city of Valencia, where one of the tributes consisted of the commission and performance of the Cantata a la Reina María Cristina de Borbón by Francisco Andreví Castellá (1786-1853). This paper looks at the extent to which this composition contributed to the artistic program and to the projection of the image of the monarchy during the last years of the reign of Fernando VII. |
