Description
Summary:In this study, changing effect of water based varnishes on yellow hue in wood material which was colored with water soluble color pigments in brown hue has been researched. For this purpose, wood samples which were prepared from the Oriental beech (Fagus orientalis L.), Sessile oak (Quercus petraea L.), Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) in accordance with TS 53 and TS 2470, colored with aniline, ready-mix, chemical stains according to ASTM E1347-97, were coated with one-component and two-component varnishes according to ASTM D3023. Color change was determined in accordance with ASTM D2244. According to research results, the highest change in yellow hue was found on beech wood colored with ready-mix stain and with two-component varnish; and the lowest change was found on Scots pine wood colored with aniline stain and with one-component varnish.
