Digitization has given rise to new realities and proposals, such as video games, social networks or augmented reality applications. The next step in our media culture is the multiplication and continuous diversification of formats, but also new forms of mediated interaction. The mediation processes generated contribute to the modification of communication models and teaching methods. And this has an impact on educational institutions, and also on higher education. As a contribution to its analysis, the concept of technological remediation is provided and defined. The new information and communication technologies (ICT) represent, under the considerations formulated here, an opportunity for change some forms and procedures of main areas of the higher education: teaching, research and management.
