Summary: | This paper aims to propose an implementation of reliability calculation to measure the reliability of a mechanical component, used in the bottle washer machine. For that purpose, the concepts of reliability, fault rate, Weibull distribution and accelerated tests were used. Five steps were taken to develop
the study. In the first stage, the materials and manufacturing processes of the chain components were analyzed to verify which variables could lead to product failure. The second phase was the performance of the traction test in a laboratory of mechanical tests, certified by the standard NBR ISO 17025, in order to verify the behavior of the materials. The third step was the definition of the variable and the method for simulation of reliability using Minitab 17 software. The fourth and fifth stages were the
analysis of the data obtained in the simulation and in the accelerated fatigue test. At the end of the analysis of the results, it was observed that the mechanical component is oversized in relation to the guarantee time offered by the company. This shows the quality and reliability of the manufacturing processes and also allowed for the introduction of a new tool to determine the guarantee of the products, which is currently little used in companies. For future work, it is suggested that the company
perform the reliability calculation of the strategic components of the products it provides, thus making continuous improvement of its products.
