Description
Summary:A study was carried out to determine the effect of low doses of X-rays on some physiological indicators of tomato seedlings FA-180, in greenhouse cultivation during the months of July-August 2010. The treatment was carried out in a source of low-power irradiation (11.47 Gy / min) in the morning hours at doses of 5, 10 and 20 Gy with a Phillips x-ray machine; model RT-100, with a duty cycle of 30 kV and 10 mA. The evaluated indicators were seedling height, root length, stem diameter, fresh stem weight, dry stem mass, fresh root weight and dry root mass. Results indicated a significant stimulation (p d” 0.05), for indicators as seedling height, root length, stem diameter, fresh stem mass, dry stem mass and fresh root mass related to the control, which corroborates the stimulating effect of this treatment on seedling growth
