In Southern Italy some distinguished scientists — active in particular among the universities of Bari, Naples and Catania — together with the innovations in university organization due to the transformation, in the Thirties, of the Royal Institutes of Economic and Commercial Sciences in faculties of Economics and Business within the main universities, contribute to this process.
