| Summary: | This work intends to analyze the early writings of Eduardo Paulo da Silva Prado (1860-1901), member o one of the richest and most traditional families of São Paulo nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Th e documentary examined refers to the period between 1879 and 1881, when Eduardo wrote the column “Crônica da Assembleia”” for the newspaper “Correio Paulistano”. To investigate how this character appeared in a social and political context characterized by profound changes in the calls to an exercise of intellectual history that is not restricted to the internal analysis of the texts, but that prioritizes the subject’s relations to his fi eld of social action. |
