Summary:Objectives: To identify the intervening factors in interpersonal relations and in the process of communication between parents with cancer and their children, related to the disease process and describe the strategies that favor communication.Method: Integrative review, with 25 articles selected between 2007 and 2017. The selection strategy: Patient, Intervention, Comparison and Outcomes was used to answer the guiding questions. Results: The functionality of the family structure, as well as the attitudes taken during the disease process impact the communication of parents with cancer and their children.
